Sea Turtle Conservation with Grupo Tortuguero
Grupo Tortuguero is a sea turtle conservation organization made up of many groups of scientists, biologists, and volunteers that have met annually in Loreto, Mexico since 1998 to discuss and share their effective conservation efforts. Dr. Wallace “J” Nichols was instrumental in the formation of this group after spending years studying and tagging sea turtles for satellite telemetry and tracking many of these female turtles while they swam thousands of miles to nest at the beaches from which they were born. This video explains about many turtle behaviors in the ocean like how they nest and lay their eggs, to how conservationists aid in protecting the eggs from the time they are laid until they hatch, when these biologists help the hatchlings make it safely to the sea, many times with the help of volunteers.
